2012 Sequim Lavender Festival

The annual Sequim Lavender Festival took place the weekend of July 20-22 in 2012. Sequim is known as "the lavender capital of the universe". Marty and I were curious about the festival and why lavender is such a big deal.

The center of activities was Carrie Blake Park. There are a number of Blake stone and gravel businesses around this area so I imagine there is a family connection.

Near the park entrance is a beautiful pond.

Rock gardens are popular around here, especially if the family business is rocks.

There was music at all the festival venues. Mostly country, but still a variety. This one had the prestigous amphitheater, but due to the excessive volume we didn't want to get any closer than this.

This is a group whose hobby is rescuing raptors, mostly owls, and returning them to the wild.

I think they were hunting for coins not needles. They were having fun anyway.
